I went to @mommymundo 's #MindfulMomRetreat today and here are my take-home thoughts: 1.) Being a mother should NOT box us into a single stereotype. We have different backgrounds and upbringing so we must make do of our individual strengths in running our household. Comparing ourselves to other moms is a huge no no. 2.) It's ok to leave our kids sometimes (under the care of a trusted nanny/family member) and give time for ourselves and NOT FEEL GUILTY. We must always pay attention to the other aspects of our life such as the spiritual, physical, intellectual and emotional. 3.) We must not lose our sense of SELF in the process of motherhood and building our family. Before we got married and have kids, we were an individual with dreams and aspirations. By the time our kids grow up and live independently, we have nothing to go back to but ourselves (and our spouse as well). 4.) A mother must nurture herself first before nurturing her family. Just like in breastfeeding, you cannot feed your child if you are hungry yourself. 5.) Be MINDFUL. Being mindful means avoiding multitasking and living in the moment. In this way, we get more focused in achieving our family and personal goals. 5.) Self-acceptance. We must embrace our imperfections and our limitations. By accepting ourselves, we become more accepting of others around us. Char! Sana hindi ko makalimutan lahat ng learnings ko today, 'no? Seriously, thid afternoon's workshop helped me assess myself and my personal goals. For my mom friends in the metro, I highly encourage you to join their succeeding sessions. It's a huge breather, I promise. Their next run would be on May so do watch out for it! 💖
